McCreary County Schools Superintendent Michael M.Cash proclaims February 2016 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.
During the winter months several factors come into play that could delay the start of school or cause school to be closed all together. One such factor is wind chill on a given day.
The Southeast/South-Central Educational Cooperative presented Pine Knot Intermediate School a banner for being selected as a “School of Distinction” for their performance on the 2015 K-PREP Assessment. Presenting the banner of “Distinction” is KY Commissioner of Education Stephen Pruitt and SESC Executive Director David R. Johnson. Accepting the banner on behalf of the students and staff of PKIS is Principal Becky Blakley and Acting Superintendent Michael Cash.
The enclosed certificate is to acknowledge your school district's outstanding participation in the Kentucky Safe Schools Week 2015 Campaign. McCreary County School District had over 1,000 online "School Safety Superhero" pledges.
At the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year the McCreary County School District received the results of the 2014-2015 Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress (K-PREP). A quick glance at the scores reveal that not only did the district make major improvements, the results were also the best scores the district as a whole has posted since the new era of Unbridled Learning in public education in the Commonwealth of Kentucky which began in 2009.
Pine Knot Intermediate School is the only school in the whole state of Kentucky offering German education at the 4 and 5 grade level.
